About

We want everyone in Ukraine and around the world to know the people who made Ukraine - briefly, honestly, and in a way that’s worth reading. Our land has always been, and still is, extraordinarily rich in bright, talented, and gifted people whose achievements changed the course of history and still inspire us today. After all, without a deep understanding of our past and an awareness of our own roots, it is simply impossible to build a successful, conscious, and strong future.

Who we include

The catalogue includes people who had a lasting impact on Ukrainian statehood, culture, science or identity, and people of Ukrainian origin who made a notable contribution to world history. We aim for balance across eras, fields, regions, and between women and men. Living people can be included too; for them we cover only their public work.

How we check facts

We check every fact against at least two reliable sources. The sources are listed at the end of each profile. People whose role is judged in different ways are described neutrally, with a “Debates and assessments” section. An editor reads and approves every profile before it’s published.

Spotted a mistake? Use the “Tell us” link at the end of the profile or the feedback form. We check every correction against sources, and requests about living people come first.

Privacy

The site sets no cookies, shows no ads and collects no personal data. We see only visit totals, such as which pages are read and from which countries.

“Read” marks are stored only in your browser and are never sent anywhere. To reset them, clear this site’s data in your browser settings.

The feedback form receives only what you enter in it, plus the page language and the profile you wrote from. To have a message you sent deleted, write to us through the same form.
